How Does Micro Machining Work

Micro machining occurs through automated selective material removal with special ultra-small cutting tools. The CNC precision machining process begins with creating a detailed CAD model that serves as the machining process blueprint. Then, the operator programs the CNC machine with CAD/CAM software that translates the 3D model design of the to-be machined product into precise tool paths and machine-readable command codes.

The CAM program dictates the CNC micro mills and lathes’ tool positioning and movement along the programmed paths, shaping the workpiece to the desired form and adding intricate features with extreme precision.

This is the process of micro machining work.
